How They Work and
How to Write Them
What is a Résumé?
A résumé is a brief overview of your experience, credentials and skills put together in such a way as to sell you as one of the best choices for a prospective employer to interview. Basically, it tells who you are, what you do (or have done), and what you want to do.
You’ll be talking with different organizations that could have different foci and needs. You should consider adjusting the focus of your résumé to meet this situation.
Make it easy to read
and as short as possible!
♦ Write two résumés: a short one (always one page or less) and a long one (with as much information as needed). Examples are given to use as a template for your information in the appendix, as well as tips for writing both.
♦ Decide what type of work you want to do.
♦ Use your extended network of friends and associates for leads.
♦ Send a SPECIAL email to those contacts provided by your friends.
♦ Always follow up with the contacts who respond.
♦ Start working.
