Step 2: Decide What You Want to Do with the Rest of Your Life
It’s time to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life. This step is extremely important. It won’t be a casual 10-minute discussion with yourself. Take several days and possibly longer if you have the time. Sleep on it!
It doesn’t make any difference what you love to do.
Just be sure it's well defined in your own mind.
Once you decide what you want to do, write it down in ONE relatively short sentence (yes, one—no kidding!). Read what you’ve written several times. Rewrite it a few times and see which one sounds the best to you. Now is the time to think seriously!
Make adjustments until you’re absolutely satisfied with this single sentence: It’s the official description of your dream job. It’s the single sentence about what you love to do. You’ll use this sentence many times.
Let’s say, for example, that you really love solving problems with computer operations or working with books and other publications. Here are two examples of what you could write:
I solve Windows and Mac computer problems.
I edit, design, and produce all types of books and documents.
